Orenda Technologies SC-1000 Scale and Metal Treatment is a trusted solution among pool builders, plasterers, and service professionals. This award-winning, environmentally-friendly chelating agent binds to metals and minerals to prevent staining and scale. It’s essential for The Orenda Startup™ and useful in ongoing maintenance to prevent carbonate scale formation and metal oxidation/staining.

Originally developed for industrial cooling towers and water treatment, SC-1000 contains no phosphates, making it compatible with phosphate removal systems. It helps control metal staining and scale formation while remaining safe for all pool and spa construction materials.

SC-1000 has even been awarded the EPA’s Presidential Green Chemistry Award for its environmentally safe formulation. It can also assist in removing existing scale in heaters, salt generators, and other equipment.

SC-1000 vs. Calcium Issues

Different calcium issues exist, and SC-1000 can help mitigate some but not all. Here’s a breakdown:

• Scale (calcium carbonate): Caused by high calcium levels falling out of solution, often visible on tile, inside pipes, and heaters. Common with high water temperatures. Related to LSI values above +0.30.
• Calcite Crystals: Caused by low calcium levels and cold water. Water becomes aggressive and extracts calcium from plaster and grout. SC-1000 may help soften some types, though others may need to be physically removed.

Note: SC-1000 is not a substitute for proper water balance. It cannot reverse existing etching. Always stay within LSI safe zone, leaning slightly high when unsure.

Directions

Initial Start-Up:

Add 1 quart per 10,000 gallons of water. Pour into skimmer or around the pool perimeter with the circulation pump on. This initial dose will deplete chlorine levels; test and adjust accordingly.

Weekly Maintenance:

Add 6 ounces per 10,000 gallons of water weekly to maintain protection.
