Finding the right cartridge. The number molded into the end cap of your old cartridge is the fastest match. If it is worn off, measure the length, outside diameter and the hole at the top and bottom; the OEM part numbers above are listed with dimensions on each product page. Four-cartridge filters (Clean & Clear Plus, SwimClear C4030 and up) take a set of four, sold as a pack.
OEM or aftermarket? Unicel, Filbur and Super-Pro cartridges are built to the same dimensions and media weight as the OEM part at 20 to 40 percent less. We stock both; the OEM part is the safe pick while a filter is under warranty, and the aftermarket is what our service trucks carry otherwise.
When to replace. A cartridge that will not drop pressure after cleaning, has frayed pleats or a cracked end cap is done. In Florida that is typically every two to three seasons for a properly sized filter. Most cartridges ship for $7.99 or $14.99; orders over $300 ship free.
